It's Alive! - Ryan Adams

Gimme Sunshine

To Be Young (is to be sad, is to be high)

The Fez - New York, NY

10/2/00

Here's two tracks from another one of my favorite performers. This show took place around the time Ryan's first solo CD came out. The standard version of the first song can be found on the unofficial "Q Division Demos" Album. The standard version of the second song can be found on the Heartbreaker Album. Check out the website for Ryan's new "rap" songs- pretty funny.

Once again it's time to take a trip back to the 1980's. (As a bonus I've included a classic Wrestlemania III clip.)

As far as I know these guys are a one hit wonder-(But ohh what a hit). I checked out their website before posting this and they released a new album this year. Who knew? You can find this classic on the Play Deep album. Once again I've included a link to check out the video. Enjoy.

Wild Card Wednesday! - Jerry Garcia / David Grisman

Whiskey In The Jar

You'll probably be familiar with this tune if you've ever been to an Irish bar where some guy or gal is singing. You don't necessarily have to be a Deadhead to appreciate these Cd's. This track can be found on the Shady Grove album.

Metal Monday!

"Metal Monday" posts will showcase the more aggressive side of Cobra Kai. Here you'll find metal, punk, hardcore, and christian rock(just seeing if you were paying attention)Turn it up!!!

Metal Monday!

Tool - Forty Six And 2

For my money these guys are the best hard rock band playing today. They remind me a little of Black Sabbath with a "slow to anger" buildup in their songs. This track is off the Ænima album.

Band of the Month - The Ramones

Judy Is A Punk

To cap off September's "Band of the Month" I decided to post a song from the group's first album simply titled Ramones. Movie buffs may recognize this tune from The Royal Tenenbaums. See you next Sunday with an all new "Band of the Month."

It's Alive!

Posts on "It's Alive" will be dedicated to live performances by some of my favorite bands. Some of the songs will be off official releases and some will come from shows I've picked up along the way.

It's Alive! - Jeff Tweedy

Theologians

Acuff-Rose

North Carolina Museum of Art - Raleigh, NC

8/16/06

To kick off "It's Alive," here's one of my favorite artists from one of my favorite bands. I was fortunate enough to attend this show and it was a wonderful night of music. In fact it was so good I decided to post two songs from the show. If you are a Tweedy fan, a DVD documentary titled "Sunken Treasure: Live In The Pacific Northwest" is being released October 24. As of yet there are no official Jeff Tweedy solo albums. The standard version of the first song can be found on Wilco's A Ghost Is Born album. The standard version of the second song can be found on Uncle Tupelo's Anodyne Album.

Totally 80's Friday

It's time to celebrate a song from my favorite decade...the 1980's!! So dust off your Members Only jackets, tight roll your acid wash jeans, and start hating the Russians all over again.

Totally 80's Friday

Lionel Richie - Hello
Mr. Richie just put a new album out last week...but you won't be hearing any of those songs on "Totally 80's Friday." You can find this classic cut on the Can't Slow Down album. I've also attached a link to check out the fantastic video for this song. You know the one where Lionel stalks the blind girl at art school and then she sculpts a huge bust of his head.(see picture)Good stuff.

(Note: For your viewing pleasure I added a link to the Motley Crue video as well-scroll all the way down to find it)

No Song For You!

Thursdays are pretty hectic for me so I won't be posting any tunes. I realize the one or two people that look at this site will be very disappointed. I'll be back for "Totally 80's Friday."

Wild Card Wednesday!

John Lee Hooker - Dreamin' Blues

You never know what your going to get on "Wild Card Wednesday!" I'd like to kick things off with one of my favorite blues artists...John Lee Hooker. You can find this song on various JLH compilations.

Two For Tuesday

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band -

Thundercrack

No Surrender (Live)

Well I decided to rip off every radio station and have my own "Two For Tuesday." To start things off here's two tracks from the Boss. The first song was recorded in the early 70's but for some reason wasn't released on any of Springsteen's studio albums. It eventually came out on the 1998 box set "Tracks." The standard take of the second song can be found on the "Born in the USA" album, but I like the live version better so here it is.

What better way to kick off Metal Monday than with the innovators of metal...Black Sabbath. Here's one of my favorite tracks off the "Paranoid" Album.

Back In Business

Looks like the problem has been taken care of. The links should work now.

Technical Difficulties

The site that I archive the music on seems to be down, pretty frustrating. I'll re-post all of the songs once it's back up.

Band of the Month - The Ramones

Teenage Lobotomy

Beat On The Brat

The KKK Took My Baby Away

Every month I will pick a different band/artist and post a different song from that band/artist each Sunday. For the first installment I selected punk rock pioneers The Ramones. Since we are a few weeks into September I've decided to make up for lost time and post three classic Ramones tunes.

Willie Nelson - Whiskey River (Live)

Willie is one of my favorite artists so get used to seeing him around here. This track is from the Willie and Family Live album. If you've ever seen Willie in concert you know that he begins each show with this song and usually repeats it once or twice during the set.

Totally 80's Friday cont.

Slick Rick - Mona Lisa
I'll admit that I'm not the biggest rap fan these days. Maybe because I'm getting older or maybe because recent rap music just seems mediocre. In any case I still appreciate the classics. This is off The Great Adventures of Slick Rick album. I actually had the pleasure of catching Slick (with Doug E Fresh) in concert a few years back and he's still amazing.

Mötley Crüe - Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)
Not a bad way to start things off. Here is some classic Crue from the Dr. Feelgood album. I've been a fan of these guys ever since I saw the Smokin in the Boys Room video on MTV. I suppose their look is a little outdated but the music still holds up. Enjoy.
