More Bad News

Well to use technical terms...my computer blew up. I took it to the store and fortunately it was still under warranty...Unfortunately they had to ship it off to fix it and it may not be back till 11/25.( I guess they are shipping it by horseback) Till that date I'll be using whatever computer I can get my hands on for school and work (kind of like a computer Gypsy). Anyways I won't be downloading or uploading music on other people's computers, so I'll be taking a little hiatus. I'll be back full force by the end of the month.( I'll leave the old songs up till I come back) Happy Halloween, see you soon.

Wild Card Wednesday! - John Coltrane

Alabama

Here's a little Coltrane to help you get through the hump day. This version of the song can be found on The Smithsonian Collection Of Classic Jazz compilation. Here's what the liner notes say about this track:

Alabama begins as if with solemn meditation, moves to prayer, to hope, to affirmation, and ends again in prayer. When asked if it concerned the desegregation problems of its date and the bombing deaths of some black children in Alabama, Coltrane replied simply, "It represents, musically, something that I saw down there, translated into music from inside me."

Sit back, relax and enjoy.

Two For Tuesday - The White Stripes

Apple Blossom

Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground

It took me awhile to get into these guys but once I took the time to listen to a few of their albums, I was hooked. The first song is on the De Stijl Album. The second song is off the White Blood Cells Album. Oh yeah, Happy Birthday Colleen Beta.

Metal Monday! - Twisted Sister

Burn In Hell

Believe it or not these guys just released a new album called Twisted Christmas. On the album they sing Christmas classics including Silver Bells and White Christmas.(No I'm not joking) This song can be found on the Stay Hungry Album. (My favorite tape back in elementary school) Unfortunately I was too young to see them in concert back then. Lucky for me I got to see Twisted Sister in all of their glory about two years ago (twice) and they still kick ass. You may also recognize this song from Twisted Sister's cameo in Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

Wild Card Wednesday! - Bobby Bare Jr

Stop Crying

Technically the full name of the group is Bobby Bare Jr's Young Criminals Starvation League. A friend of mine dragged me out to see this band a few months ago and I've been a fan ever since. The studio albums don't do these guys justice. I highly recommend seeing em live if you get the chance. This song is off The Longest Meow.

Two For Tuesday - Uncle Tupelo

Gun

Cold Shoulder

Here's two of my favorite "Tweedy Tupelo" songs. Although it may seem blasphemes to Tupelo fans, I prefer Jeff's voice over Jay's. I'll get around to posting some Wilco stuff in the near future. You can find both of these songs on the Still Feel Gone Album.

Journey

Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)

Alright time for one of my favorite "Arena Rock" bands. Does anybody know whatever happened to Steve Perry? You have to check out the video for this song. I especially enjoy the "air keyboard" playing. This track can be found on the Frontiers Album.

Wild Card Wednesday - Public Enemy

Bring The Noise

Well before Flavor Flav became a reality superstar, he was part of one of the most revolutionary bands in music history. This track is off one of the best rap albums of all time (in my humble opinion)...It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back. I ran into Flav at a Suncoast Video in the Spotsylvania Mall (in good ole' Fredericksburg, VA) about ten years ago. He was roaming through the aisles throwing various movies into baskets carried by two very large black men. Yes he was wearing a clock and he really does act like he is on TV. Alright to quote Mr.T - "Enough of the Jibba Jabba!"
Enjoy the song.

Metal Monday! - Metallica

Fight Fire With Fire

The first big concert I ever witnessed was a Metallica show. I was in middle school and my dad took my brother and I. I remember being frightened and fascinated at the same time. Although I'm not a big fan of their recent stuff, they are still one of the best live bands around. Here's the opening track from the Ride The Lightning Album. Turn it up!!!!

The Record Plant - Sausalito, CA

10/18/74

With the warm weather slowly fading away I figured we'd try to hold on to summer a little bit longer with this post. I saw Buffett in concert a few years back and the party before the show was incredible (the actual concert wasn't bad either.) You can find the standard version of this song on the A-1-A Album.

Wild Card Wednesday - Hank Williams

Lost Highway

I'm still having issues with Ezarchive (it took forever to upload this one song) Oh well at least it's kind of working now. Apparently the site is having bandwidth issues. Okay enough computer talk.... I felt like hearing a little classic country today so here you go. This track can be found on Hank Williams The Ultimate Collection. It's a great CD to get if you are curious about his music.

Once again I am having problems with Ezarchive. I've emailed them and I'm currently waiting for a response. I'll post more songs once this is taken care of. Does anybody know of any other sites that I can upload files with? Ezarchive seems to have a lot of problems. The posts on this page should be working fine, I just can't upload any new ones.
