My Favorite Songs - Black Flag

Alright let's switch things up a bit. I don't listen to punk music as much as i used too (man listening to this reminds me of high school) it's hard to feel rebellious when you wake up and work 9 to 5 everyday for the man, but every once in awhile it feels good to give the middle finger to society. What can I say about these guys that hasn't already been said?... they were one of the best. Here's two of my favorites from this crew.

My Favorite Songs - Bruce Springsteen

Man this was another tough one. It's hard to pick my two favorite Springsteen songs but after looking through my collection these two tracks jumped out at me (ask me again tomorrow and I'd probably say two different ones) I enjoy the rockin' Springsteen as much as the next guy, but I have to admit I'm a sucker for the ballads.

My Favorite Songs - Pink Floyd

Alright guys break out the lava lamp and put the Wizard of Oz on mute..it's Pink Floyd time. No "deep cuts" on this post. I'm sure all of you are familiar with these tunes. It was tough to pick my favorite Floyd tracks because the songs on the albums generally flow so well together. (Although I feel these are pretty good representatives of their catalogue.) Enjoy!

My Favorite Songs - Cat Stevens

Hey now! In the next few posts I'll be listing some of my favorite songs. It's going to be a difficult task so I'm going to cheat and put two of my favorite songs from various artists. Some of the songs have already been seen on Cobra Kai but you newbies out there may have missed out the first time around. Let's kick things off with some Cat Stevens. These two particular tracks give me that "goose bump feeling" whenever i hear them. There's so much sadness in both of these songs but a hint of positiveness also exists ..."It's breaking my heart you're leaving, baby I'm breathing". that's one of the things i love about Cat's music. His characters go through some horrible experiences but they always seem to find a positive. (this is very apparent in Moonshadow) Let's do it!

Tuesdays With Dylan

Whoops wrong Dylan. Anyways the Ryan Adams show was fantastic. I expected it to be a nice night of acoustic music but man was i wrong. The night was filled with electric guitars and 2.5 hours worth of jamming. The greatness of the show didn't hit me right away but by Sunday i was craving to hear more. If they're coming near your town don't miss it. I'm on the lookout for a recording of the show so I'll post a few tracks if i find it. Enjoy the Dylan!

It's Alive! - Ryan Adams & The Cardinals

Northern Lights - Clifton Park, NY - 6/3/05

Lets fast forward a few years to 2005. A year that Ryan Adams put out an unprecedented 3 albums (one of which was a double album!). Here's a couple live tracks from that time (including my personal favorite version of Let it Ride)

As I mentioned yesterday I'll be seeing Ryan Adams & the Cardinals this Saturday. I figured I'd post some various live Ryan this week to get me in the mood for the show. Let's kick it off with a couple tracks from an early solo show which took place about a month after Heartbreaker came out.

Soul Music Sunday - Otis Redding

Hey gang, long time no see. What can I say?..things have been pretty hectic which means my little blog gets deprived. I have seen some interesting live music the past week and a half. Last weekend Charleston had a reggae block party so I saw some reggae bands (duh) and a kid play violin along with hip hop tracks in the background (which was actual pretty entertaining) I also saw a band called Harptallica which was two girls who played Metallica songs on the harp. As strange as it sounds it was actually very good. (Check out the website below) For you fellas out their the ladies are pretty easy on the eyes and very good harp players) To cap it off, Friday a buddy of mine called and said he got free tickets to Megadeth in Myrtle Beach (how could I turn that down?) Honestly I'm not too familiar with them but they sounded tight..the die hards their seemed to enjoy themselves. And finally this Saturday I'm going to see Ryan Adams and the Cardinals..it's been a great few weeks. Alright now that we're all caught up I'll shut up. Here's some Otis!
