Totally 80's Friday - Bonnie Tyler

Total Eclipse Of The Heart

Here's another dose of 80's greatness. The version from Old School is pretty funny, but I prefer the original (you know you love it too) This track is off the Faster Than The Speed Of Night Album.

Artist Of The Week - Willie Nelson

I Couldn't Believe It Was True

Just As I Am (Instrumental)

Can I Sleep In Your Arms

Alright, I saved the best for last. (Front to back this may be my favorite album.)This is a concept album which "focuses on the tribulations of a wandering preacher in the Old West as he comes to terms with the powers of love, hate, vengeance and, finally, redemption." I remember I was at a friends beach house a few years back and someone put on the Red Headed Stranger Album. A few of us were sitting in rocking chairs on a porch looking at the ocean in the early morning hours. It was the perfect soundtrack to the winding down of the nights festivities. If you're a fan of this album, I recommend checking out the Red Headed Stranger movie (A visual production of the music) While you're at it check out Honeysuckle Rose (my personal favorite Willie movie) Merry Christmas everybody!

Artist Of The Week - Willie Nelson

Rainbow Connection

Most of you may be more familiar with Kermit the Frog's version of this song from The Muppet Movie. Willie's version from his Rainbow Connection Album is also worth a listen.

Artist Of The Week - Willie Nelson

Bloody Mary Morning

Pick Up The Tempo

Here's a few tracks from the Phases And Stages Album. This particular concept album deals with the breakup of a marriage. The first 5 songs chronicle the woman's viewpoint and the last 6 explore the male perspective. Pretty good stuff....

Artist Of The Week - Willie Nelson

Ou Es-Tu, Mon Amor (Where Are You, My Love)

I Never Cared For You (w/ Emmylou Harris)

We're moving up a few years to 1998's Teatro Album for today's post. It took me awhile to get used to the "sound" of this CD, but after many listens it turned into my favorite Willie album from the 90's. Tomorrow we'll take a trip back to the 70's.........

Artist Of The Week - Willie Nelson

Good Hearted Woman

Till I Gain Control Again

I Gotta Get Drunk

Nothing like a little live Willie. These songs can be found on the great Willie And Family Live Album. I've had the pleasure of seeing Willie in concert three times in the last few years and he sounds as good now as he did on this album (This concert is from 1978!) He's still on tour so I highly recommend checking him out if you get a chance.

Yesterday's Wine

Alright folks it time for another installment of "Artist of The Week." This week will feature tracks from my favorite voice in music....Willie Nelson. Let's start with a song from 1971's Yesterday's Wine. This is one of Willie's earliest concept albums which chronicles the cycle of one man's life from cradle to grave. Enjoy.

Two For Tuesday - The Jayhawks

All The Right Reasons

Angelyne

I bought Rainy Day Music a few years ago for five bucks at a record store that was going out of business (what a steal) Since then I've gobbled up many Jayhawks albums but this one still remains my favorite. These guys are currently on hiatus, but if you like the singers voice(Gary Louris), check out his other band: Golden Smog (also includes members of Wilco, Soul Asylum, & The Replacements)

Wild Card Wednesday - David Gray

Please Forgive Me

I don't know about you, but the start of a new season definitely affects my listening preferences. Like clockwork some cd's find themselves in my play list as soon as the weather starts changing. For whatever reason White Ladder comes back into my life a little bit before Christmas time. I guess it's one of my favorite "cold weather" cd's.
