Love Week - Vanilla Ice

In honor of Valentines Day, this weeks posts will feature songs about love. I'll try to appeal to you whether you're in love, heartbroken, or a heart breaker. Let's start off the week with one of our generations most romantic poets....Vanilla Ice. The "phone call" at the end of the song gets me every time.

Soul Music Sunday - The Spinners

When I was a freshmen at the College of Charleston I remember walking down the street near the main part of campus and I heard the song "I'll Be Around". It sounded like someone was playing a radio but when I came around the corner I saw that it was actually The Spinners! They sounded great and I got to enjoy an unexpected free concert.
Billy Henderson (One of the main singers from The Spinners) passed away 2/2/07. In honor of him, here's a few of their greatest hits.

It's Alive! - Whiskeytown

It's probably obvious by now that I'm a fan of all things Ryan Adams. Here's a few tracks from his first band...Whiskeytown. I'm not sure about the dates or locations of these performances...I just know they happened between 1996 & 1998.

Happy Birthday Bob Marley! 2/6/45

I discovered the music of Bob Marley back in high school (I bought the Legend Album like millions of others) and I've been moved and amazed by his songs ever since. It's hard to pick my favorite Bob songs ..... these tracks jumped out at me while I was looking through my collection. I feel each one represents a different time in his career. Enjoy!!

I learned something new today. Apparently my file sharing service only allows a certain amount of downloads per month (I opted for the free package) The good news is more of you are enjoying the music, the bad news is we've used up my download quota till 2/22/07. I ended up opening another account so I'm going to transfer the songs from 1/22/07 on (to do them all would be a pain in the ass) I'll leave the previous posts up for awhile but they won't be listenable till 2/22/07. I'll convert the songs sometime this evening. Does any of this make sense? Thanks for stopping by.

Later......The songs from Dio to Neil should be good to go again. See you back on Totally 80's Friday.
